Compositions by Kevin Macleod

I have composed a few tunes over the years, not many, but they gave me the chance to dedicate them to folk close to my heart. Maybe you will try them and enjoy playing them? I do hope so! They are all recorded on various of my cds.

This is written for my beautiful wife Christine.

Miss Christine Lonie’s JIg

Miriam Maclean of Polbain

Miriam Maclean was a wonderful member of the extended Macleod/Maclean clann 'Eachainn Ruadh'. Sadly, she left this world in 2025, aged 53. She is very much missed and remembered with huge affection.

'Springwell' in Polbain, Coigach is the family crofthouse to the family of 'Eachainn Ruadh'. Macleod who built it in 1896.

Springwell Waltz

Deer Raid Marchers - 3rd & 4th part by Kevin Macleod

This tune was composed by Ian Crichton of The Isle of Lewis for the unveiling of the monument to the land raid that took place in Pairc, Lewis after WW1. The marvellous broch like tower was designed by my esteemed cousin Will Maclean MBE, now one of a series of 5 such monuments.

I added the last 2 parts when Allan MacDonald, John Martin and myself performed a concert at the Edinburgh City Arts Centre during the major retrospective of Will’s work in 2022 entitled ‘Points of Departure’. Allan has kindly included it in his latest collection; ‘The Moidart Collection’.

Here are a few tunes that folk have been kind enough to dedicate to me. Thank you all!

Kevin Macleod’s composed by Freeland Barbour

A tune composed by The Occasionals band leader, master musician, accordionist, composer and great friend, Freeland Barbour of Glen Fincastle, Perthshire, Scotland.

Kevin Macleod’s jig (or retitled by me to The Island Dentist’s compliments to the banjoman!)

A jig composed by Bill Hart, the fine banjo playing dentist on Benbecula!

Kevin Macleod of Auchterhouse composed by Nigel Gatherer

A reel composed by Nigel Gatherer, the dynamic mover and shaker of all things mandolin in Scotland.
