Autumn 2026 - Live music continues to be exciting in Edinburgh.
There are lots of fine traditional & folk music sessions and other musical events in the City of Edinburgh to attend and enjoy.
And fun ceilidh dances with The Occasionals too - all new dates are listed here below.
There are regular traditional music & song sessions in Edinburgh in local bar venues - Sandy Bells, The Black Cat, Captain’s Bar, The Royal Oak and, in particular, The Waverley Bar, on Sunday afternoons, (3pm to 6pm) - not in August - where I can often be found playing music with top Scots singer George Duff, fiddle maestro John Martin (‘Ossian’, ‘Easy Club’ & ‘Tannahill Weavers’) , ‘Battlefield Band’ piper Mike Katz, ‘Boys of the Lough’ legend Cathal McConnell and others.

HOGMANAY 2026 IN EDINBURGH
Thursday, 31st December 2026 - The Occasionals
We are delighted that The Occasionals are willing to play for the Hogmanay Ceilidh in Edinburgh again this year and hope you will be able to join us.
. Dancing will start at from 8:30pm until 12:30 at St Peter’s Church Hall, Lutton Place, Newington, Edinburgh, EH8 9PE with doors open by 8pm. As usual, there will be some soft drinks and nibbles provided with the option to BYOB. Please avoid bringing anything with peanuts as a regular has a severe allergy.
. Numbers are limited to ensure we have space to dance, so please let me know if you would like to join us, as soon as you decide and we can add you to the admission list. The ticket price remains at £30 if paid in advance by 10th December 2026. You can see me at a ceilidhs for cash or credit card payments: the Scots Music Group monthly ceilidh at St Brides in Edinburgh, Fridays at the Cadjers in Canonmills or most of Sheila's events. Alternatively, I can sent payment details nearer the time, but please let me know numbers booking in advance.
